Toshiko Takaezu:

shaping abstraction

The Museum of Fine Arts has really outdone itself with a deeply perceptive exhibition of the work of Toshiko Takaezu. The exhibition opened on September 30, 2023 and will be open until September 29, 2024. Our only, tiny, regret is that the Yale University Press does not have Toshiko Takaezu: Worlds Within available for sale. It is available for pre-order, however from Amazon and Barnes & Noble and many other outlets; and should be a wonderful accompaniment to the Noguchi Museum’s exhibition of the same name scheduled to begin its tour of the US on March 20, 2024.

“In my life I see no difference between making pots, cooking and growing vegetables. They are all so related. However, there is a need for me to work in clay. It is so gratifying and I get so much joy from it, and it gives me many answers in my life.”
